Find your forever home with your furever friend.
Here at Oakwood Homes we care about everyone in the family, including the four legged ones. We offer pet friendly options throughout our homes like vinyl flooring, large homesites and finished spaces under the stairs and the kitchen islands.
If you’re in the market for a new home or simply a move, here are three things to consider for your furever friends.
1. Take your pets needs into consideration when putting together your list of home features.
When you’re putting together your list of preferred home features be sure to think about your pet’s needs. Take into consideration what features or lack thereof may be deal breaker for you. If you have an elderly pet, will stairs be an issue? Is there ample yard space for your pets? Living on a high traffic street may be an added issue if your dog is a runner. If you have an indoor cat these may not be issues for you. Every pet’s needs differ, but they’re important to take into account before making a home purchase.
2. Is the neighborhood pet friendly?
Even if the home you find has a great yard, there will be times you’ll want to walk your dog. Or if you have outdoor cats, you’ll want to let them roam. Now is the time to see if the neighborhood is pet friendly. Do you see any signs of other homeowners in the area owning pets? Is there a dog park nearby? If not a dog park, what about parks, paths, and sidewalks to safely walk your dog? Your pet will be a part of the community as much as you and the rest of your family – be sure they’ll be happy in the new neighborhood too.
3. Are there pet services nearby?
Have you checked to see if there are pet services readily accessible near the homes you’re looking at? Are there animal hospitals, veterinarians, and pet stores nearby? What about groomers, pet sitters, and pet walkers in the area? You can Google “pet services near me” or turn to your realtor or the sales office team at the models you are touring to help with this. They will know what services are available in the communities you are visiting.
